Baby Safety Gates

BABY GATE BUYING 101

Blocking off access to an area is one of the easiest ways to keep your children safe. Investing in baby safety gates should be your top priority when it comes to childproofing your home. They are quick and easy to install, and keep you child in the safe zones and out of hazardous areas. There are many choices when it comes to baby safety gates, but don't let that scare you. Follow these steps to select the right baby safety gates for your home.

(Step 1) Decide where (room or doorway) you wish to install your new gate. Knowing the gate location will help you select the correct style.

(Step 2) IF THE AREA YOU WISH TO BLOCK OFF IS AT THE TOP OR BOTTOM OF STEPS, YOU MUST USE A "HARD MOUNT" STYLE GATE. (THIS TYPE OF GATE USES SCREWS, TOOLS AND OTHER HARDWARE IN INSTALLATION). FAILING TO USE A "HARD MOUNT" GATE AT ANY LOCATION WHERE THERE IS A RISK OF FALLING COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE!!!

(Step 3) Keep in mind that in any area where you DO NOT have a risk of a fall, you can use Pressure Mount Gates. These install with NO tools and leave no permanent marks. Simply measure your opening, choose the correct gate size, and install with the provided "pressure mount pads."

(Step 4) Now that you have the area in mind, it's time to think about gate size. We carry a WIDE selection of "out of the box" sizes. However, if your space does not fit these measurements, it will be necessary to use an extention kit during installation. Most gates have specific extention kits avialable for them, in several different sizes. Take your time and do the math. These gates are strong and sturdy--they won't bend much, so you can't guess at a size. Measure the inside of your doorjam or opening carefully, and choose the correct size gate.

(Step 5) You're in the home stretch now! You've chosen your style and your size. The final step may be the toughest of all--the appearance! No matter what your taste--modern or more traditional, we've got a baby gate that fits your needs. If you have any questions or still feel unsure about what gate is right for your space, feel free to contact us.
